I was very happy with the 'Vibe' example that I chose to base my 2nd front cover draft on, so I made a couple of changes to it and changed the things I didnt like, but made sure I still based my 3rd front cover draft of this example. I felt it was very inportant that I re-did a lot of my front cover, as I knew I could do better, and simply wasn't happy with my 2nd draft and didn't like it. I used the same star model to focus my third draft on, and didn't want to change or challenge any conventional ideas as I think it would of been too much of a risk to take.
I spent a lot of time thinking and planning out this cover, as I wanted it pretty much the same as my star model, for example the tag lines were written sentence by sentence, and individual put/alined them together. I wanted to concentrate mainly on this as it gave a sense of sharpness, and also my star model also did this and I really liked it. However, at first it did take me a long time to sort out how to do this, as when I was using 'pages' on the Mac's it didn't let me get my sentences as close together as possible so I used Publisher instead adn it worked. I wanted to make sure that I kept a three colour scheme rule throughout this page, as I would following conventions from my star model and other magazines. I kept the colourd red, grey and black mainly because it had sexiness displayed within it and also it would target a male audience. I kept my model centred in the middle of the page to allow her to be the most important and most viewable feature on the page, and linking to this I then positioned her name on the left hand side in the middle of the page to allow the reader to see that the main article will be about her and to allow them to find her spread as soon as possible. I also put the words of her name over the image, as my star model also did this. I then made up exciting sell lines, to attract my male gaze, for example 'Beyonce Strips off' and 'Surprise Guest Speaks and Strips', I purposely did this to attract my male gaze, as they will be most interested in looking at images of women (half nakered), and will attract them to buy the magazine and read the rest. I kept the mast head the same, as I liked the fact it had connatations of a beat as background music, and I kept it in a bold font to catch the readers eye. However, I did use 1000 fonts to produce my second draft mast head and I couldn't in my third draft as it displayed a white background around the image, and I couldn't change it to fit in with this background colour so I had to use a typicalled San Serif font. Again, I displayed the bar code and website address at the bottom left hand corner of the page, mainly because it looked best there, but I made it stand out more by putting a red background in the textbox. This will draw the audiences attention and would allow them to access the website quicker than if it wasn't displayed on there. Lastly, I wanted to use the same model that I have used throughout as she looks very sexy and seductive, and I purposely did this in order to attract my male gaze.
