I have used secondary research, to look-up previous front covers from the types of magazines that I would want to base mine on round. These type of magazines link very well to the genre of Pop/RnB that I have chosen to focus my magazine on, as they are based artists that are catorgied in this genre.
Flavour..

Looking at the examples that I have chosen from the magazine 'Flavour', it is clear that the magazine style is based around RnB lifestyles and artists. I made sure I picked certain example like these, as my genre is based around RnB and POP. By picking out the covers I like the best, out of this type of magazine, it has helped me massively on the way I want to lay out my magazine front cover and styler it gives off.
We can see from the examples that there is a continious masthead of 'Flavour' in every version of the magazine, and it is based around the same place which is the top of the page. The colour of the masthead is based around the same colour scheme as well, consisting off gold, silver and grey. This gives of the impressions of money and wealth, which this genre is based around. However, there is not a continuous colour for each magazine, which is not conventional in a music magazine.
The main front cover picture is also centered in the middle of the page, with a model looking straight at the camera to attract and appeal to people, which is conventional for any other music magazine. The images are all a mid-shot, which is good as it gives me an idea on what poses my model can do within this shot, as I am thinking off using a midshot in my magazine front cover, instead of usng a close up or long shot. This is mainly because midshots are conventional to music maagzines.
By looking at other magazine cover, from the same genre that i have chosen, it has help me come up with my own ideas to create my cover and what sort of information I will include. Features that include; the masthead, what sort of image I want, including what shot I like best and what sort of pose I want my model to do. It has also gave me ideas into the types of headlines and booasts I want to display on the front cover, for example extra that may come with the magazines, quotes that have come from interview or who is featured in the magazine.
Vibe...

I wanted to choose another R&B and POP music magazine, to compare or comment on similarities between the two. This is will give me a bigger understand on the types of features that this genre will display on/in their magazines. It also gives me an idea on how similar this genre displays there information.
It would seem that 'Vibe' is more related to R&B in comparison to 'Flavour', by the type of clothing the artists are wearing and the stances of their pose. This type of magazine is based around images that are seen as sexy and hot!, but 'Flavour' looks more like a POP magazine, which would suit a younger age group as well through the way the model is posing and how they are dressed and presented.
All of the examples of this magazine are all conventional, by the idea that the image is always based in the middle of the page, with the model looking straight into the camera. We can also see that the masthead is the same, in the same position, with a skyline at the top in every example.
Conventional Two page spread.
Both example that I have chosen are based around the same idea of having a larger picture either in the middle of the page or to the side of the double page spread.
Looking at these spreads, its clear that it shows a main image of the model either centered in the middle of the page or either sides. These pictures show and connote a sexy looking pose that the model is pulling and they tend to be wearing something revealing. I tend to do this in my magazine, inorder to attract my audience and follow conventions.
